Melbourne engineered European Oak floors

We have a large selection products in stock, available Melbourne wide for supply only (DIY), or for professional installation by one of our skilled tradespeople.

O’Brien Timber Floors have over 20 years experience, our customer and installation services are top notch, we are fully insured and all of our work is guaranteed.

Engineered Oak uses a species of timber found in Europe, and has a similar construction to engineered timber boards, consisting of a top layer (Lamella) of real European Oak varying in thickness from 2-6mm.

The thicker this lamella is, the more times you can sand, stain or re-finish your floors in years to come if you wish. It has a very distinctive wood grain with just enough knots and veins to be interesting, but not overpowering.

To create the vast array of colours and finishes of Engineered European Oak boards you will see on display in our showroom, manufacturers use a variety of methods to achieve stunning results.

Some boards are fumed or smoked to give a darker colour throughout, others are treated with a surface stain or reactive stain to penetrate further into the lamella. Various washes like limewash or whitewash can be used for a very modern feel.

Then there are many techniques to scrape the surface (some done by hand so no two boards are the same) to create a more rustic look, and different levels of protective coating to give a different sheen to your floor.

Finally a choice of edge styles are available from micro bevel to V groove to flat joins. Thicknesses range from 12mm up to 21mm, and board widths in anything up to a massive 300mm!

Of all the real timber products that we provide, Engineered European Oak has by far the most choices available, our oak flooring Melbourne experts are sure we can find your perfect flooring solution amongst the many options of this exquisite natural product.
